Intellectual Property and Video Game Development Workshop

The format of this workshop will be a two-hour class, including presentation, group work and Q&A.

The workshop will cover the legal issues that may arise in the course of video games development, including:

  • Copyright law (ownership of content found online, idea vs expression: what is protected under copyright law, copyright myths/fair use)
  • Intellectual property (basics of the four types of intellectual property and how they can affect or protect their project)
  • The territoriality of laws, and the impact for a video game business
  • Censorship: understand what is acceptable across the world in different countries
  • Data Protection: what is personal data, what are the implication of the GDPR on their future businesses.
